Module development so far

August 2026

The Hearts & Hands project brings together the expertise of five European partners to support the social and emotional development of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) children through play-based learning. Each partner developed a specialised training module, helping parents gain practical knowledge, confidence and strategies they can use in everyday family life. Together, the five modules create a complete learning journey covering emotional literacy, self-regulation, Theory of Mind, communication and parent-child relationships.

The first module by Ceangal Eolais (Ireland), introduces parents to the fundamentals of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and the role of play in supporting the emotional development of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) children.

The second module by INQUIRY FUSE (Cyprus), focuses on strengthening emotional literacy through engaging, play-based activities.

The third module developed by InterAktion (Austria), equips parents with practical techniques to help children regulate emotions, cope with frustration and build resilience.

The fourth module by Tilburg University (Netherlands), helps parents support the development of Theory of Mind—the ability to understand other people’s thoughts, feelings and perspectives.

Lastly the fifth module, by KMOP (Greece), focuses on strengthening the emotional bond between parents and their DHH children.

The completion of them provides the educational foundation for the next phase of the project, the training modules. An interactive SEL Toolkit (WP3) will be created, transforming the knowledge gained into practical games, visual resources and family activities that parents and children can use together at home.

The training modules will soon be available through the Hearts & Hands online platform, offering families accessible and engaging resources to support children’s social and emotional development.
