InterAktion - Verein für ein interkulturelles Zusammenleben

Project Coordinator

Austria

InterAktion is an Austrian organization that focuses on human rights, sustainability, and the integration of refugees and young people from migrant families. In the last years we have been working on family learning with a focus on empowering parents and strengthening family cohesion. Through our family-centred projects, we have worked with parents, supporting them in developing the skills, confidence, and resources needed to educate, communicate with, and engage their children in diverse and inclusive ways. Within the SILENT project (https://www.silent-project.online/) we developed targeted strategies to support hearing parents in communicating with children with hearing impairments, particularly in the period following their child’s diagnosis. Building on this experience, the Hearts & Hands project shifts the focus to parents of deaf and hard-of-hearing (DHH) children aged 4 and older, addressing their evolving needs as children grow and communication contexts become more complex.

Our approach through CEL is rooted in community development practice.
